- Devide the class into two groups.
- Write the phonemic sounds /dz/ and /t / on the board.
- Ask S.s in each group to write on the board as many words containing these sounds as possible.
- Set the time limited in one minute.
- The group which has more correct words wins the game.
Pronunciation :
Activity 1 : Listen and Repeat
- Read aloud the words that S.s have written on the board.
- Read the words again.

Activity 2 :
- Ask S.s to work in pairs to practice reading the sentences.
( textbook, p.19 ).
- Call on some S.s to read aloud.
- Ask the rest of the class to listen and give comments.
Grammar :
A. Verbs followed by to infinitive
Model sentences:
1. She studies English to go to the USA.
2. To know how to drive is useful.
3. They decided to build a new hospital.
4. I have a lot of work to do
( which I have to do).
5. The tea is too hot for me to drink.
+ Usage :
- We use to infinitive to indicate the purpose or intention of an action.(ex1).
- We can use to infinitive :
+ as an subject of a verb (ex 2)
+ as an object of a verb ( ex 3)
- We use to infinitive after noun or pronoun as a modifier to replace the relative clause ( ex 4)
- We use to infinitive in idiomatic expressions
(ex 5)
Too + adjective( for s.o) + to inf.


B.Verb followed by infinitive:
Model sentences:
1.The film makes me cry.
2. Will you let me use your camera?
3. I saw her lock the door.
+ Usage :
- We use Bare infinitive after verb let and make.
( ex 1).
- We use Bare infinitive after some perceptive verbs such as:see, hear, smell, feel, watch, observe, notice when we see, hear,ect. , the whole action from beginning to end.
Activity 1: Re-ordering
- Ask S.s to do the exercise 1 p.20.
- Call some S.s to read aloud the answers.
- Give feedback.





Activity 2:
Sentence transformation
- Ask S.s to do the exercise 2, p.21
- Call some S.s to write the answer on the board.
- Check with the class.









Pick out the infinitives in the following sentences and describe the function of each.
To find fault is easy.
It’s delightful to hear the sound of the sea.
The dog wants something to eat.
I saw him run the mile for four minutes
Everybody wishes to enjoy life.
He is too ill to do any work.
I am not afraid to speak the trust.
He went to Paris to perfect his knowledge of French.


- Go to the board and write the words containing these sounds on the board.
