+ review of Reported Speech.

* Presentation:
- Show some pictures of a driver, a singer, a test with many mistakes and asks some questions.
Who is he / she? What is it?
Do you like to be a driver?
- Write the words in 2 columns on the board.
- Ask Ss to read the above words → Introduce 2 patterns:
+ stress on the first syllable: 0o
+ stress on the second syllable: o0
- Read the words in textbook as a model, and then ask Ss to read these words in chorus and then read them individually.
* Practice:
- Deliver handouts for Ss to put the words into 2 columns: stress on the first syllable and stress on the second syllable
Approach, attract, descent, install, kidding, confide, maintain, precede, reject, secure.
- Ask Ss to listen to the tape and repeat after the tape.
- Ask Ss to practice reading the sentences in pairs.
- Call on some Ss to read the sentences aloud.
- Give correction (pronunciation, intonation, stress).
* Presentation :
- Say a sentence and ask Ss to report this sentence.
- Review grammatical point: Reported Speech.
- Remind Ss the changes in reported speech
+ introducing verbs + the personal pronouns
+ the tenses + adverbs of time and place
Exercise 1 (p. 38) Tell your friend what Thuan said
- Explain how to do this exercise.
- Ask Ss to do the exercise individually and then to check and compare their answers with their partner.
- Call on some pairs to read the sentences: one reads Thuan’s saying, and one reads the reported speech.
- Give corrections and feedback.
* Call on some Ss to speak out sentences in turns and other Ss to report these sentences.
Exercise 2 (p. 21) Complete the conversation.
- Explain how to do exercise 2.
- Explain some new words in the dialogue and the conversation.
- Have Ss to work in pairs and discuss on the missing phrases.
- Then ask them to practise speaking the dialogue.
- Call on some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.
- Give feedback.
- Summarize the main points.
- Ask Ss to do exercise 2 as homework.
- Look at the pictures and answer the questions.
